Thule Slipstream XT Kayak Load-Assist Rack

just got a 16.5 ft kayak weighing 50 pounds and was looking for a way to
get it onto the roof of my Honda van by myself. I can carry my kayak
on my shoulder but can't lift it over my head. This rack is the perfect
solution and makes it very easy to get on and off by myself.

I rest the stern on an old piece of carpet (to keep it from getting
scratches) and lift the bow onto the roller on the rack. Then it's easy
to just push it on the rollers and slide it over the rear felt pads.
Getting it off is just as easy. For reference, I am a 5'10" male senior
in average condition. One thing - sliding the rack forward is at about
my reach limit so a shorter person with a van or large SUV might have a
little difficulty, but I'm sure a step stool would help.

The rack fits the kayak, fits the car and, therefore fits the bill. It
will make it easier to load the kayak onto the car myself without
assistance. Therefore I should be able to get more use out of the
kayak.

This kayak rack works pretty good. It was easy to assemble. The rack
does not slide very easily, however - I have to really pull on it to get
it to move and I need a step stool to get enough leverage to get it to
move. Ironically, it moves better with the kayak on it, so that is good.
One other slightly annoying thing, is the roller element can rattle, as
it moves from side to side. Other than those relatively minor issues, I
am pleased with this rack and hope to get a lot of use out of it this
summer.
